Caio Magalhaes to Face Cezar ‘Mutante’ at UFC on Fox 19

Caio Magalhaes will lock horns with Cezar Ferreira at UFC on Fox 19.

Promotion officials announced the middleweight contest on Wednesday. UFC on Fox 19 takes place at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla., on April 16 and features a pivotal lightweight showdown between Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Magalhaes will return to action for the first time since a first-round submission loss to Josh Samman at “The Ultimate Fighter 21” finale this past July. “Hellboy” spit blood at his opponent after the defeat and was suspended for six months by the Nevada Athletic Commission. The loss to Samman ended a four-fight UFC winning streak for Magalhaes.

The 31-year-old known as “Mutante” has fallen on hard times of late, losing three of his last four Octagon appearances — all via knockout. Most recently, Ferreira suffered a first-round knockout at the hands of Jorge Masvidal at the “TUF 21” finale.
