Carlo Bumina-ang’s Jaw-Dropping 23-Second KO Steals Show at ONE Friday Fights 44

One Championship might want to take a closer look at Carlo Bumina-ang. The Team Lakay rep wiped out Ilyas Dursun with a sensational one-punch knockout in the first round of their ONE Friday Fights 44 bantamweight showcase on Friday at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. Dursun (2-1, 0-1 ONE) met his end just 23 seconds into Round 1.

The 29-year-old Bumina-ang (3-0, 3-0 ONE) sat down the Amir Team product with a counter right hook, gave chase and uncorked a devastating straight left. The concussive blow rendered Dursun unconscious in an instant and left him draped over the ropes. Somewhere, Wanderlei Silva smiled and Quinton Jackson shuddered.

Bumina-ang has finished two of his first three opponents in less than a minute.

Meanwhile, Kak’s Fight Club export Babar Ali leaned on repeated takedowns, suffocating top control and heavy ground-and-pound, as he laid claim to a unanimous decision over Fritz Biagtan in a three-round flyweight attraction. All three members of the ringside judiciary scored it for Ali (7-2, 1-0 ONE).

Biagtan (7-2, 2-1 ONE) struggled to stay in his lane. Ali made the most of his size and strength advantages, executed takedowns in all three rounds and slowly but surely chipped away at the Filipino’s resolve. He did his best work in Round 3, where he secured a takedown, paired punches and elbows with knees to Biagtan’s head, dodged multiple submission attempts and ultimately progressed to full mount in the waning seconds.

Ali, 21, now finds himself on a three-fight winning streak.

Further down the card, RS Team prospect Leandro Gomes put away Phuket Fight Club’s Milad Hosseini with punches in the third round of their flyweight feature. Hosseini (0-1, 0-1 ONE) succumbed to unanswered punches 2:47 into Round 3.

Gomes (5-1, 1-0 ONE) was virtually flawless in his promotional debut. He called upon bulletproof takedown defense, clean one-twos, outside kicks to the calf and inside kicks to the thigh. Gomes dialed up a flying knee in the first round, flexed his superiority in open space and hit the accelerator as soon as the situation called for it. He surprised Hosseini with a takedown in Round 3, floated between the back and full mount, applied his ground-and-pound and returned to his feet after being reversed. Gomes then doubled up on rolling right hooks, corralled his counterpart in the corner and unleashed his hands until the job was done.

The 21-year-old Gomes has rattled off four straight victories.
