A welterweight slugfest is official for UFC on Fox 29, as Carlos Condit will square off against Matt Brown on April 14.
UFC on Fox 29 takes place at Gila River Arena in Glendale, Ariz., and is headlined by a lightweight clash between Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje. The evening’s main card will be televised on the Fox Network following early prelims on Fox Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
Condit will look to halt a three-fight skid when he steps into the Octagon with Brown. Most recently, the former 170-pound interim champion suffered a unanimous decision loss to Neil Magny at UFC 219. “The Natural Born Killer” also was submitted in the first round by Demian Maia at UFC on Fox 21 and dropped an extremely close five-round verdict against Robbie Lawler in a title bout at UFC 195 during his recent slump.
Brown, meanwhile, halted a three-bout losing streak with a first-round knockout of Diego Sanchez at UFC Fight Night 120. “The Immortal” originally announced the clash with Sanchez as his retirement fight but apparently had second thoughts when Condit was offered as an opponent.
