UFC lightweight Carlos Diego Ferreira has been notified of a potential UFC Anti-Doping Policy violation and has been removed from his May 29 UFC Fight Night bout against Abel Trujillo.
“USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case,” the statement read. “It is important to note that, under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, there is a full and fair review process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed.”
The promotion is expected to announced a replacement opponent for Trujillo “shortly.”
Ferreira snapped a two-fight losing streak in his last outing at UFC on Fox 18, taking a unanimous decision victory against Olivier Aubin Mercier on Jan. 30. The former Legacy Fighting Championship talent is 3-2 since beginning his UFC tenure in June 2014.
UFC Fight Night takes place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas and is headlined by a bantamweight showdown pitting Thomas Almeida against Cody Garbrandt.
