A welterweight bout between contenders Chad Laprise and Jingliang Li has been tacked onto the UFC 206 card. UFC officials announced the matchup on Friday afternoon.
UFC 206 takes place on Dec. 10 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Canada, which is Laprise’s hometown. Laprise, the winner of “The Ultimate Fighter: Nations,” will move back up to 170 pounds after announcing recently that he will no longer campaign as a lightweight. “The Disciple” last fought at UFC on Fox 21, where he trounced Thibault Gouti in just 96 seconds, but the Adrenaline Training Center fighter missed the 155-pound weight limit by three pounds.
Li, meanwhile, is aiming to string together consecutive wins inside the Octagon for the first time in career. “The Leech” is coming off a first-round knockout win over Anton Zafir at The Ultimate Fighter 23 Finale, but the Chinese veteran has flip-flopped between wins and losses ever since signing on with the UFC.
UFC 206 is slated to be anchored by the light heavyweight championship between titleholder Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson and will air on pay-per-view. The prelims will air on UFC Fight Pass before moving to Fox Sports 1.
