Chael Sonnen previously called out Wanderlei Silva for his next fight. Now, he’s putting “The Axe Murderer” on a deadline.

Known for his skills on the mic as well as his elite wrestling pedigree, Sonnen recently wrote that “Wanderlei is broke” and will make for “an easy fight.” While some have indeed issued concerns about Silva continuing to compete, the Brazilian has nevertheless won three of his last five after losing five of the previous six. Silva most recently earned a thrilling victory over Brian Stann on March 3 at UFC on Fuel TV 8 in Japan, surviving a back-and-forth round one before finding the American’s chin in the second frame.
Sonnen, meanwhile, has lost back-to-back fights to two of the sport’s pound-for-pound best, as the Oregonian was knocked out by Anderson Silva in their 2012 rematch before suffering the same fate against Jones last month. Prior to those losses, Sonnen had won five of six, besting the likes of Yushin Okami, Nate Marquardt, Michael Bisping and Stann.
