Chute Boxe, ‘Cacareco’ Part Ways

Rudimar Fedrigo, founder and head trainer of famed Brazilian academy Chute Boxe, has announced that UFC middleweight Alexandre “Cacareco” Ferreira is no longer part of his roster.

Fedrigo told Brazilian website R7.com that the decision to release Ferreira -- who has split with several gyms throughout his career, including Chute Boxe rival Brazilian Top Team -- came as part of a restructuring of Chute Boxe’s core MMA team.

“He made it clear that he wants to follow his career with his own legs, so much so that I cannot talk to him for days,” said Fedrigo.

“Sometimes a person doesn’t adapt to an environment,” he added.

Fedrigo made it clear that there were no hard feelings with the fighter.

“He made friends here at the academy,” said Fedrigo. “I hope that we’ve contributed to the success of his career. Also, it was thanks to Chute Boxe that he was hired by the biggest event in the world of MMA, the UFC.”

Ferreira lost his UFC debut in November, falling to Vladimir Matyushenko via first-round TKO. The 31-year-old is set to drop to 185 pounds when he takes on fellow Brazilian submission specialist Rousimar Palhares on March 3 at UFC Live 3 “Sanchez vs. Kampmann.”
