Former strawweight title challenge Claudia Gadelha will return to the Octagon to face Cortney Casey at UFC Fight Night (live odds) in Sao Paulo on Nov. 19.
Promotion officials announced the pairing on Tuesday. UFC Fight Night 100 takes place at Ibirapuera State Gymnasium in Sao Paulo and is headlined by a light heavyweight encounter between Alexander Gustafsson and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.
Gadelha last appeared at “The Ultimate Fighter 23” finale on July 8, when she dropped a five-round verdict to reigning strawweight queen Joanna Jedrzejczyk. The 27-year-old Brazilian recently moved her training camp from Nova Uniao to Luttrell-Yee MMA in Albuquerque, N.M. “Claudinha” is 13-2 as a professional and owns notable wins over the likes of Jessica Aguilar, Valerie Letourneau, Herica Tiburcio and Ayaki Hamasaki, to name a few.
After losing her first two promotional appearances, Casey has scored back-to-back first-round finishes against Cristina Stanciu and Randa Markos. The 29-year-old Phoenix native is 6-3 as a pro, with all of her victories coming inside the distance.
