Clinton Williams Replaces Spong, Five Bouts Added to WSOF 26 Prelim Card
Five bouts have been added to the World
Series of Fighting 26 preliminary bill, including the card’s
former co-main event.
The Las Vegas-based promotion announced on Wednesday that Clinton Williams will replace the injured Tyrone Spong and face Jake Heun in a light heavyweight clash. That bout, originally scheduled as the co-headliner, will now be on the prelims. The WSOF 26 main card will proceed with four fights and airs on NBC Sports Network on Dec. 18 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
In addition to Williams-Heun, four other preliminary contests were
revealed: Abubakar
Nurmagomedov vs. Danny Davis
Jr. at welterweight; Hakeem
Dawodu vs. Marat
Magomedov at featherweight; Andreas
Spang vs. Shamil
Gamzatov at light heavyweight and Gil
Guardado vs. Giga Chikadze at lightweight. WSOF takes place at
the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas and is headlined by a 145-pound title
tilt between Lance
Palmer and
Marcos Alexandre Campos de Almeida.
Williams, 31, is a 7-2 with one no contest as a professional, with five of his triumphs coming inside the distance. He is 3-1 thus far in 2015, including a third-round submission of Jared Hatch in his most recent outing on Nov. 14.
Based out of American Top Team, Heun is coming off a victory against Davin Clark at WSOF 22 on Aug. 1. Heun owns an 8-4 career mark, with six wins via knockout, technical knockout or submission.
