Cody East will face Curtis Blaydes in a heavyweight duel when the UFC travels to Portland on Oct. 1.

Promotion officials announced the matchup on Friday. UFC Fight Night Portland takes place at the Moda Center and is headlined by a bantamweight showdown between John Lineker and John Dodson. The evening’s main card will be televised on Fox Sports 1.

East saw a nine-fight winning streak end in his Octagon debut, as he suffered a first-round technical knockout loss to Walt Harris at UFC 197 on April 23. “The Freight Train” is 12-2 as a professional, with all but one of his triumphs coming inside the distance.

Blaydes suffered the first loss of his six-bout career at UFC Fight NIght “Rothwell vs. Dos Santos,” falling to Francis Ngannou via doctor stoppage after two rounds on April 10. All of his previous five triumphs came via knockout or technical knockout.
