This Saturday night at UFC 227, former Ultimate Fighting Championship bantamweight king Cody Garbrandt takes on current champ and former teammate T.J. Dillashaw for the 135-pound title.

Garbrandt previously lost the title to Dillashaw back in November 2017 via knockout and before that fight he told reporters that he was interested in going down a division to challenge the pound-for-pound king Demetrius Johnson for a shot at the flyweight title if he could beat Dillashaw.

During a recent media luncheon, a fight with “Mighty Mouse” was brought up again and Garbrandt said while he respects the flyweight champ, he would be open to fight him provided he is paid well (via MMAJunkie.com):

“If they go out and compensate us, I’ll be more than willing to fight ‘Mighty Mouse’ at 125 pounds. If they don’t want to pay us, I’ll stay at 135 pounds and clean out my division, and (Johnson) will keep doing what he’s doing. No ill words toward ‘Mighty Mouse.’ I think he’s a great, great fighter. But they’ve got to compensate us for that. I think it’s going to be a great fight.”

The UFC 227 card on Saturday night also features the return of flyweight champion Johnson, who is looking to defend his title for the 12th consecutive time. Johnson’s last win which was over Ray Borg back in October 2017 broke the former middleweight champion Anderson Silva’s previous record of 10.
