In addition to airing in Spanish on Telemundo, Combate Americas’ “Copa Combate” event will also be broadcast in English on NBC Sports Network.
The promotion announced the news on Tuesday. According to a release, it will mark the first time two NBCU platforms have simulcast a mixed martial arts event.
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to offer this incredible event to both the Telemundo and NBCSN audiences in Spanish and in English, respectively” Combate Americas CEO Campbell McLaren said. “‘Copa Combate’ is the first event of its kind in the MMA fight world, so being able to serve the largest group of fans possible in the U.S. under the NBC umbrella is an honor.”
“Copa Combate” takes place in Cancun, Mexico, on Nov. 11, with the televised portion of the card beginning on Telemundo and NBCSN at 11:30 p.m. ET/10:30 p.m. CT. The card features a one-night, eight-man bantamweight tournament where the winner of the bracket receives a $100,000 prize. The tournament’s semifinals and championship bout will be televised on Telemundo and NBCSN. Meanwhile, quarterfinal matchups and alternate pairings will stream on TelemundoSports.com and the Telemundo En Vivo app as well as NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app.
