Combate Americas Postpones Puerto Rico Event on Jan. 25

Combate Americas is putting its upcoming debut show in Puerto Rico on hold this January.

According to the promotion on Thursday, Combate Americas will no longer be holding Combate Americas: San Juan on Jan. 25 at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan, Puerto Rico. On Tuesday, a 6.4-magnitude earthquake hit off the shores of the island nation, knocking out power for a majority of the country and killing one person. Subsequent earthquakes of lesser magnitude struck Puerto Rico earlier, and multiple additional tremors affected the nation.

According to The Athletic on Thursday, fighters already scheduled on the event will be relocated to future cards, including a show in Mexicali, Mexico, on Feb. 21 and the following week in Fresno, California. Several combatants set to compete were affected by the quakes, and the headlining fighter Amanda Serrano will return to boxing while awaiting a new booking.

The promotion plans to return to San Juan later this year, at a date to-be-determined. Additional details have yet to be released by Combate Americas.
