A featherweight bout pitting Conor McGregor against Dennis Siver will headline the UFC’s return to Boston on Jan. 18.

Promotion officials confirmed the matchup following an initial report from MMAJunkie.com . The event takes place at the TD Garden on a Sunday and airs on Fox Sports 1. The UFC last visited Boston on Aug. 17, 2013 for UFC Fight Night “Shogun vs. Sonnen.”

The special Sunday Fight Night will likely air shortly after the conclusion of the NFC Championship game on Fox, but part of the card could overlap with AFC Championship, which begins on CBS that same day at 6:30 p.m. ET.

McGregor was one of the breakout stars of the promotion’s last trip to Boston, where he captured a unanimous verdict over Max Holloway in a preliminary bout despite injuring his knee. The SBG Ireland representative’s ascent has continued since then, as he has posted first-round stoppages of Diego Brandao and Dustin Poirier in his last two outings.

Siver, meanwhile, successfully returned from a nine-month suspension at UFC Fight Night “Nelson vs. Story,” as he earned a unanimous decision victory over Charles Rosa in Stockholm. The Russian-born German is 3-1 with one no contest since moving from lightweight to featherweight.
