Cormier-Riley Added to Strikeforce ‘Houston’

Undefeated heavyweight prospect Daniel Cormier will meet Jason Riley in an undercard bout at Strikeforce “Houston” on Aug. 21 at the Toyota Center in Houston, the promotion announced on Wednesday.

Cormier, who placed fourth in the 2004 Olympics in freestyle wrestling and captained the U.S. squad en route to the 2008 Beijing Olympics, scored his third career victory against Lucus Browne at XMMA 2 on July 31 in Sydney, Australia. The 30-year-old fighter trains with the American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose, Calif.

Riley will look to rebound from a 14-second technical knockout loss to former IFL heavyweight Devin Cole at UMMAXX 10 last March in Euclid, Ohio. Six of Riley’s seven victories have come by way of his fists.
