Current Ultimate Fighting Championship women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg has opened up as the strong betting favorite against her opponent, former Invicta Fighting Championships bantamweight champion Yana Kunitskaya on March 3 at UFC 222.
The 28-year-old Russian fighter is making her Octagon debut against arguably the best and most feared female fighter on the planet. Betting agency Bovada has Kunitskaya as the 6-1 underdog and Cyborg as the 10-1 betting favorite.
Cyborg, who has held titles in both Strikeforce and Invicta FC, is coming off a unanimous five-round unanimous decision against former bantamweight champion Holly Holm. A win against Kunitskaya would further cement her as the best pound-for-pound fighter in women’s mixed martial arts.
The UFC 222 event was salvaged on Wednesday after the high profile bout between Max Holloway and Frankie Edgar for the featherweight title was called off following a training injury suffered by Holloway. Edgar will now take on Brian Ortega in the co-main event, while Cyborg vs Kunitskaya will serve as the main event.
