Earlier this year, Hooker pulled out of a scheduled clash against Jalin Turner at UFC 285 in March due to a broken hand. He later went to defeat Turner via split decision at UFC 290 but broke his arm in the fight. The Kiwi has now reportedly been forced out of UFC Austin due to a similar injury.
“It’s just one of those things. I’ve been kicked a thousand times in the last two months and he just got me on the right spot. It’s broken on the same spot as I broke it last time,” Hooker told the Herald.
“I just didn’t give it enough time to set. It probably didn’t need too much, just another month of lifting weights so it could set, but I just jumped straight into training camp which takes a toll on your body … It just hadn’t set.”
Hooker is currently on a two-fight winning streak with wins over Turner and Claudio Puelles. Meanwhile, Green is unbeaten in his last three, including a 33-second KO against Grant Dawson in a main-event clash last month.
The scheduled co-main event between Hooker and Green was supposed to be a five-rounder, a stipulation which didn’t please “The Hangman.”
