When it was announced that Anderson Silva tested positive for anabolic steroids during a drug test administered prior to UFC 183, it resonated throughout the mixed martial arts community.
UFC President Dana White was no exception. The news that the former middleweight king had tested positive for drostanolone metabolites and androsterone during a drug screen on Jan. 9 hit the UFC boss as hard as anyone. After all, Silva rose to prominence in the Las Vegas-based promotion, and arguably established himself as MMA’s greatest talent during his memorable title reign.

Silva’s failed drug test was one of many that have tainted the UFC’s reputation over the past few weeks. White and UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta are scheduled to hold a press conference on Wednesday to address the promotion’s recent outbreak of positive tests.
Recently, reports surfaced that Silva failed an additional drug test, although the date and substances involved have not been revealed. White would not offer any new details nor confirm the alleged second result on Saturday. Instead, he pointed to the upcoming presser, an event that promises to be unpleasant for all involved.
“Lots of bad s--t [will be discussed]. We’re not gonna be talking about fun things,” White said. “We’ll address all the things that happened lately and what we’re gonna do, and what’s gonna happen from here on out.”
