Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White joined the assembled crew at TMZ Sports on Thursday afternoon and revealed that he isn’t exactly enthused by the way the main event combatants for Saturday’s UFC 202 (live odds) acted on Wednesday.
Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor, who highlight the pay-per-view event inside the new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, engaged in a wild profanity-laced tirade at the final pre-fight press conference inside the MGM Grand. To make matters worse, both fighters hurled water bottles at one another and White said that Diaz and McGregor will pay for their mischief.
“They're both getting punished,” White told TMZ. “What everybody's gotta understand is, we're overseen by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. I guarantee both of these guys will get massive fines. And there's probably gonna be a hearing too after the fight.”
White said that the fallout could be “ugly” and their punishment could include suspensions and community service.
“And the word is that in this thing, somebody was injured,” White remarked, likely with a pit in his stomach. “So, there's gonna be a lawsuit. Who knows how it's gonna play out.”
The polarizing president of the world’s biggest MMA promotion didn’t reveal who was filing suit but suggested that the, “wheels are in motion.”
There will be much more on this as it unfolds.
