Dana White on Mayweather-McGregor Negotiations: We Just Lost Our Date to ‘Canelo’ and ‘GGG’
Surprise, surprise: there's now another hurdle standing in the way of a proposed Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor showdown.

“We just lost our date to ‘Canelo’ and ‘GGG,’ but good, that’s a good fight,” White told Fight Hub TV after the bout. “I’ll be at that one, too.”
After the Alvarez-Chavez Jr. bout, 37-0 middleweight ace “GGG” Gennady Golovkin came into the ring to firm up a future bout between he and Alvarez, a blockbuster showdown that would have Golovkin's WBA (Super), WBC, IBF and IBO middleweight titles, as well as Alvarez's The Ring magazine title. However, the hotly anticipated bout has been scheduled for Sept. 16 at T-Mobile Arena; in mid-March, it was reported that Sept. 16 was reserved by the venue's management, with an eye toward booking Mayweather-McGregor on that date.
But, like any good fight promoter, White wouldn't completely throw cold water all over the potential Mayweather-McGregor bout.
“Floyd wants this fight and we want to try and make it, so we’ll see what happens,” continued White. “Listen, Floyd is one of the best ever in the history of the game and Conor is one of the best ever in the history of our game, so people want to see it and I’m always into making fights that people want to see.”
“Anything’s possible when two guys get in and start throwing punches, especially when a guy hits as hard as Conor does, you know?”
