Brandon Lewis (135.5) vs. Daniel Marcos (136)


Round 1

Lewis is making his second appearance on the Contender Series after falling to Mo Miller in September 2021, while Peru’s Marcos, a title holder in the 300 Sparta organization, brings a sparkling 12-0 record to the bout. Mike Beltran gets the evening’s opening referee assignment. Marcos takes the center of the cage but it’s Lewis who strikes first with a couple jabs and a leg kick. Marcos lands a hard kick to the lead leg of Lewis. Lewis with a front kick and a left hook, but Marcos responds with a combination. A kick up the middle by Marcos wobbles Lewis, and he shoots for a single leg out of desperation. He clings to the leg for a few moments before separating. Marcos lands hard hook-straight combination. Marcos is pressuring Lewis with combinations and an uppercut gets through nicely. Marcos explodes for a leaping knee and it gets through. Lewis keeps his composure and secures a takedown shortly thereafter. Marcos scrambles up and they separate. Marcos lands a right uppercut straight left combination. Lewis steps in with a jab as he tries to close the distance. Marcos answers with a hard leg kick. Marcos misses another leaping knee. Another hard low kick connects for Marcos and he follows up with a crisp straight right. Lewis’ movement seems to be hindered by the low kicks from Marcos and he spends the end of the round trying to shake it off.

Round 2

Marcos goes right back to work on the left leg of Lewis. A hard right hand lands for Marcos. The bantamweights trade and both land in the pocket. Lewis is flicking out his jab well early in the round, looking to close the distance. Another leg kick makes Lewis stumble. Marcos circles on the outside as Lewis attempts to track him down. Lewis attacks witha straight right to the body. They exchange in the pocket, and Lewis is able to turn a takedown attempt into a body lock. He maintains the grip and pushes Marcos into the fence. Marcos turns and faces his foe, firing a knee before breaking free from the clinch. Lewis lands a front kick but eats a punch in return. A counter left hook lands for Marcos. Lewis’ corner tells him that his opponent has slowed. Lewis is doing well to apply pressure this round, mixing up his attacks. Marcos lands another hard low kick. Lewis answers with one of his own. Marcos is on his bicycle as Lewis fires off a spinning kick. Marcos makes Lewis buckle with another low kick and he’s eyeing the leg of his wounded foe. Another leg kick makes Lewis stumble again, and he tries to take Marcos down. Marcos defends and then lands a front kick to the face in the center of the Octagon. Lewis attacks with a front kick and punching combination before the horn.

Round 3

Marcos lands another front kick and then a leg kick again makes Lewis stumble. He’s switching stances, trying to keep that compromised left leg from further harm. Marcos lands a counter right in an exchange. Lewis continues to stalk Marcos, and he shoots for a single leg against the fence. He lets the leg go in favor of throwing punches. A right lands for Lewis in an exchange. Lewis backs Marcos up into the fence and shoots again. Marcos defends well and they separate. Marcos goes back to atacking the leg and then adds on with a punching combination. Marcos fakes an elbow and lands a body shot before dropping Lewis to the mat with another low kick. Lewis hops right up and shoots for a takedown. Marcos uses a guillotine to escape. Lewis is still walking forward, and he catches a front kick and briefly dumps Marcos to the mat before securing a rear-waistlock and pulling his foe to the canvas with him Marcos turns into him and stands, landing a big shot as his opponent stands. Leis walks forward like a zombie and is stopped in his tracks by a hard 1-2. A bloodied Lewis is still forcing the issue, swinging wildly and screaming at his opponent, who seems content to circle away in the bout’s waning moments. Marcos finally decides to plant his feet and he tags Lewis with a clean left hook. They trade right up until the final horn.

Bruna Emanuele Brasil (115) vs. Marnic Mann (115.5)


Round 1

Brasil, a former LFA and Shooto Brasil competitor, brings a six-bout winning streak into this strawweight pairing. Montana native Mann is undefeated in five pro outings, including a pair of wins under the LFA banner. Mark Smith is your referee. They touch gloves and we’re underway. Brasil lands a couple front kicks down the middle, the second of which hurts Mann. Mann recovers and lands a hard low kick to knock Brasil off balance. Brasil partially lands a head kickthat Mann catches. Mann lets it go and pressures, but it’s Brasil who lands a trip takedown. Mann scrmables up in a hurry. Brasil lands another front kick to the mdsection. Mann closes the distance and shoves Brasil into the fence. Brasil turns her foe and lands a few hard knees to the body. Mann tries to execute a head and arm throw, but Brasil defends it. Now it’s Brasil shoving Mann into the cage. Mann wants to go for another hip toss, but instead she turns Brasil into the cage. Mann briefly gets Brasil on her seat, but the Brazilian pops right back up. Brasil counters with a powerful throw of her own and lands in top position. They scramble and Mann recovers full guard. Brasil seems content to hold position as she passes to half guard. Brasil will stay heavy on top until the horn.

Round 2

Mann with an inside leg kick, and Brasil answers with one of her own before her opponent forces the clinch and shoves her into the fence. Brasil creates separation and Mann backs away. Brasil moves in and lands a hard straight right before going back to the front kick down the middle. Mann is struggling to find her range, and Brasil lands a spinning back kick to the body. Brasil leaps in with a knee that misses the mark but follows up with a right hand. Mann shoots for a takedown and presses Brasil into the fence. Mann knees the thighs of her opponent and then lands a knee to the body in the clinch. Mann drops back down for a takedown. Brasil defends with a guillotine, but Mann is able to get her on her back this time. Mann is in half guard. Brasil uses her butterfly guard to try and elevate Mann. Eventually she is able to reverse and sweep into top position. Brasil drives her head into the jaw of Mann, keeping heavy top pressure. Brasil elects to stand and lets Mann up. A winging right hand connects for Brasil. Moments later, Brasil lines up a right head kick and it connects foot on face. Even though the shin doesn’t land, it still does plenty of damage, as an unconscious Mann falls backward to the canvas as soon as it connects. Brasil has a walk-off knockout and potentially, a UFC contract.

Malik Lewis (156) vs. Trevor Peek (156)


Round 1

Peak Fighting title holder Malik Lewis has finished all five of his opponents within two rounds, while all six of Peek’s pro triumphs have come inside the distance — including a notable victory over UFC veteran Khama Worthy. Mike Beltran will be the third man in the cage. Leewis flicks out a front kick and Peek goes with an inside leg kick in response. They continue to trade kicks before Peek closes the distance behind a right to the body. Lewis forces the clinch and lands some knees from the body lock position. Lewis is looking to work his way to the back, while Peak attempts to break the grip of his foe. Lewis briefly drags Peek down, but he’s up quickly. Lewis drops low, connects his hands and slams Peek down. Peek is up quickly again and they separate. Peek lands a body kick before they clinch. They separate and it’s a big right from Lewis that floors Peak, who is up in a hurry. Peek is eating more big shots and he looks for a takedown. Lewis unloads with elbows to the side of the head. They trade knees in close range and Lewis tees off with a series of punches, a flying knee and heavy hooks. Beltran takes a look but lets Peek stay in the fight. Lewis goes for a takedown and gets mount. Peek nearly reverses but Lewis is able to scramble to the back. Peek is busted open, but he is able to turn out and nearly take top position. They stand, and Lewis goes back on the offensive. Peek fires back and that slows Lewis down momentarily. Lewis lands a vicious knee in close. They clinch and then Lewis fires off heavy hoos. The head movement for Peek keeps him alive. Late in the round, Peek wades forward and lands some heavy punches of his own.

Round 2

Peek moves in and swings wildly. They clinch and it’s Peek who lands a knee and a right hand. A pair of leg kicks find a home for Peek. Lewis steps in with a stiff jab. Peek ducks under a spinning back fist and plants Lewis on the mat. Peek drops several heavy elbows from half guard. Lewis gets to his knees, clinging to a leg as Peek unloads with more shots. Lewis stands, but a knee from Peek sends Lewis back to the canvas. Lewis is on his knees, with Peek in a dominant position landing multiple punches to the head. Lewis rolls to his back, and Peek passes to mount, where he lands more elbows and punches. Beltran is giving Lewis a long leash to recover as Peek remains relentless. Peek continues the assault, and more unanswered left and right hands finally bring the contest to a halt. What a comeback for Peek, who was reeling in the first round.

Ikram Aliskerov (186) vs. Mario Filipe de Sousa (185.5)


Round 1

Brave CF veteran Aliskerov has been victorious in 12 of 13 pro appearances, with his lone setback coming at the hands of Khamzat Chimaev. Sousa will be making his third Contender Series appearance and enters the bout with three straight first-round finishes to his credit. Mark Smith will oversee the action. Aliskerov moves forward and they trade. Aliskerov changes levels but Sousa shucks him off and lands a right hand on the break. Sousa is staying long, landing leg kicks and his jab. Aliskerov ducks under a hook, but Sousa is able to defend the ensuing takedown attempt. Sousa is sticking his jab, mixing in front kicks and leg kicks. Aliskerov backs Sousa up, shoots near the fence and takes his foe for a ride. He slams Sousa down and passes to side control. Almost instantly, the Dagestani has a kimura locked up. Aliskerov cranks on the maneuver and Sousa taps in a matter of seconds. As Sousa lays on the canvas, it appears that his shoulder may have popped out. It’s Aliskerov’s fifth career submission triumph and the first kimura in Contender Series history.

Allan Begosso (135.5) vs. Farid Basharat (135.5)


Round 1

Basharat will look to follow in the footsteps of his brother Javid, who earned a UFC deal on the Contender Series last season. Standing in his way is Team Alpha Male product Begosso, who has won three of his last four while competing under the LFA banner. Mike Beltran gets the call to officiate the evening’s featured bout. Basharat opens with a kick to Begosso’s lead leg. Begosso misses on a big overhand right. Another leg kick for Basharat, and then a htird lands. Begosso counters a front kick with a big right hand. Basharat leaps in with a knee and is countered. Basharat goes back to attacking his foe’s leg. Another leg kick for Basharat. Begosso has another overhand right blocked. Begosso is swinging big but hasn’t found the range yet. They trade leg kicks. Basharat avoids another powerful offering and sticks a couple jabs. A left hook finds for mark for Begosso. Basharat shoots for a takedown and Begosso locks in a guillotine. Begosso doesn’t have full guard, though, and Basharat stays calm until the grip loosens. Basharat pops his head free, but Begosso quicly transitions to a heel hook. Basharat lands some punches to the head and Begosso relents. Begosso goes back to hunting for leg locks, but absorbs some ground-and-pound for his troubles before Basharat dives into full guard. Basharat passes to full half guard after fending off a triangle attempt. Basharat drops an elbow after absorbing what appeared to be an illegal upick. More big shots from Basharat, who stands and lands an axe kick to the body before the horn.

Round 2

Basharat makes his opponent stumble with a calf kick early. Begosso kicks the body and Basharat answers with a leg kick. A nice left hook to the body lands for Begosso. Basharat leaps in with a knee and follows up with a punching combination. A right to the body lands for Basharat. Basharat works behind his jab, while Begosso looks to land to the body again. Basharat lands a head kick followed by a combination before taking Begosso to the mat near the fence. Basharat is in side control as Begosso attempts to push off the fence with his legs. Basharat stands and drops ground-and-pound before diving back into his foe’s half guard. Basharat continues to work, landing punches and applying shoulder pressure. Basharat drives his forewarm into Begosso’s chin and slams an elbow into his face. More heavy ground-and-pound lands for Basharat, who is methodical and powerful in his approach. Begosso tries to stay in it, landing an elbow from his back, but Basharat lands a barrage of heavy punches in response. Begosso gets to a knee, and Basharat looks to work his way to his foe’s back. Basharat is cut and dripping blood, but remains unfazed. He gives up on the back and reverts to landing heavy left and right hands from above. Basharat ends the round with more punches and elbows.

Round 3

Begosso steps in and land a left hook. Basharat responds with a head kick and punching combination. Begosso kicks the leg, but Basharat sticks his jab. Begosso feints a knee and Basharat tags him with a right hand and a left to the body. Basharat has a head kick blocked. Basharat moves in with his jab and lands a fast multi-punch combination. Begosso answers with a wild attack. Basharat stalks him and mixes his rapid-fire punches to the head and body before landing a takedown near the fence. Basharat applies shoulder pressure while working from half guard. Begosso lands an elbow from his back. Basharat stands briefly then dives back into half guard. Basharat continues to mix punches and elbows nicely from top position. Begosso threatens with a leg lock but Basharat spins out of danger and right back into half guard. More punches and elbows rain down from Basharat. Basharat mixes in some punches to the ribs. Basharat passes to mount, but Begosso escapes and recovers half guard — not before eating another massive shot. Basharat empties the tank, unloading with more lefts and rights until the final horn.
