Daniel Cormier Blasts Alexander Gustafsson on Twitter over Luke Rockhold Comments

Ultimate Fighting Championship light heavyweight ruler Daniel Cormier has fired back at Alexander Gustafsson in relation to comments the Swede made towards Luke Rockhold.

Rockhold earlier this week talked about competing at light heavyweight now that Cormier is moving up to heavyweight to challenge Stipe Miocic for the title. Rockhold was also quoted saying there are “easier fights” in the light heavyweight division.

Gustafsson took exception to those comments and posted the following on his Instagram account:

Cormier is Rockhold’s long-time friend and former training partner at American Kickboxing Academy. They clearly still have a strong bond and the champ joined in the social media war of words with the following:

Cormier had previously beaten Gustafsson by split decision at UFC 192 in a very close fight back in October 2015. “DC” was beaten up badly and praised the Swede for his performance that night, referring to him as “one of the best fighters in the world.” On Wednesday however, Cormier posted on Twitter that the reason the fight went that way is because he wanted to prove he was the real champion in the absence of Jon Jones. Instead of just taking him down all night he wanted to stand and bang with “The Mauler.”
