The light heavyweight title clash between Daniel Cormier and Alexander Gustafsson has a date and venue.

Cormier will defend the 205-pound belt for the first time against Gustafsson in the UFC 192 main event on Oct. 3. The matchup was officially announced during the UFC Fight Night “Bisping vs. Leites” broadcast on Fox Sports 1 Saturday afternoon.

UFC 192 takes place at the Toyota Center in Houston and also includes a light heavyweight matchup pitting Rashad Evans against Ryan Bader. The event’s main card will air on pay-per-view.

After Jon Jones was stripped of his title and indefinitely suspended, Cormier submitted Anthony Johnson in the UFC 187 headliner to capture the vacant light heavyweight crown. The American Kickboxing Academy product has only lost once in 17 professional outings, falling Jones via unanimous decision at UFC 182.

Gustafsson enters the title bout having lost two of his last three fights. Most recently, “The Mauler” suffered a devastating first-round TKO defeat against Johnson at UFC on Fox 14 on Jan. 24. The 6-foot-4 Swede famously gave Jones the toughest test of his career at UFC 165 before losing a closely contested five-round verdict.
