Light heavyweights Daniel Cormier and Dan Henderson will do battle in the co-main event of UFC 173, Ultimate Fighting Championship officials announced Wednesday.

Cormier and Henderson were previously linked to a July showdown at UFC 175, but the matchup will instead take place on May 24 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. UFC 173 airs live on pay-per-view and is headlined by a bantamweight title confrontation pitting Renan Barao against T.J. Dillashaw.

A two-time wrestling Olympian, Cormier, 35, has been perfect in 14 pro mixed martial arts matches. Formerly a heavyweight standout, the American Kickboxing Academy product cut to 205 pounds earlier this year, stopping Patrick Cummins in just 79 seconds at UFC 170.

Henderson, meanwhile, owns 41 pro bouts to his credit. The former two-division Pride Fighting Championships titlist halted a three-fight skid in his most recent outing, when he notched a come-from-behind knockout of Mauricio Rua one month ago in their rematch live on Fox Sports 1.
