Daniel Jolly has replaced the injured Sean O’Connell and will face Misha Cirkunov at UFC Fight Night “Holloway vs. Oliveira” on Aug. 23.
Promotion officials announced the change to the light heavyweight contest on Wednesday. UFC Fight Night takes place at SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada and is headlined by a featherweight tilt between Max Holloway and Charles Oliveira.
Cirkunov enters his Octagon debut riding a four-fight winning streak, including a head-kick knockout of three-time UFC veteran Rodney Wallace. The Riga, Latvia, native is 9-2 as a professional, with seven of his victories by way of knockout, technical knockout or submission.
Nicknamed “The Werewolf of Texas,” the 30-year-old Jolly is unbeaten in five pro outings. The Austin native hasn’t competed since May 2014, when he earned a five-round verdict over Josh Foster at a regional event in Louisiana.
