Bellator 169 marks the organization’s first trip to Ireland and will be headlined by a heavyweight fight between Muhammed Lawal and Satoshi Ishi. The card will take place at the 3Arena on Dec. 16 and airs on Spike TV at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT.
After coming up short in a 145-pound title bid against Patricio Freire at Bellator 138, Weichel has rebounded to earn back-to-back victories over Georgi Karakhanyan and Emmanuel Sanchez. The 31-year-old German owns a 37-9 career mark and is 6-1 inside the Bellator cage.
Redmond, 29, is a longtime veteran of the Cage Warriors Fighting Championship promotion. The Dublin native went 0-2 during a brief stint in the UFC in 2015, but returned to the win column by outpointing Chris Stringer at BAMMA 26 on Sept. 10.
