A lightweight matchup between Daron Cruickshank and Jorge Masvidal has been added to the developing UFC on Fox 12 bill.
Ultimate Fighting Championship officials confirmed the matchup on Thursday, verifying a report from Fox Sports. UFC on Fox 12 takes place July 26 at the SAP Center in San Jose, Calif., and will see former Strikeforce king Josh Thomson collide with Michael Johnson in a pivotal lightweight pairing live on the Fox Network.
Cruickshank, 28, upset Erik Koch in his most recent Octagon appearance, knocking out “New Breed” with a first-round flurry at UFC Fight Night “Brown vs. Silva.” The “TUF 15” vet has gone 5-2 since joining the UFC, scoring wins over Henry Martinez, Yves Edwards and Mike Rio before besting Koch earlier this month.
Masvidal, meanwhile, has won four of his last five fights, with only a hard-fought decision loss to Rustam Khabilov marring his record in that span. The former Strikeforce title contender last competed on April 19, when he took a unanimous decision victory over Pat Healy at UFC on Fox 11.
