Darren Till appears to have an opponent for UFC Fight Night 130, as he will square off against former welterweight title challenger Stephen Thompson.
Multiple outlets have confirmed that bout agreements are in place for the main event matchup following an initial report from BJPenn.com. The Las Vegas-based promotion has not formally announced the contest. UFC Fight Night 130 takes place at Echo Arena in Liverpool, England on May 27 and will air on Fox Sports 1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass.
Till is coming off the biggest victory of his career to date at UFC Fight Night 118 this past October, when he stopped Donald Cerrone via technical knockout 4:20 into the opening round of their bout. The 25-year-old owns a 16-0-1 career mark that includes 10 triumphs via KO/TKO and two by way of submission.
After twice coming up short in a pair of title bouts against Tyron Woodley — once by majority draw and once in a majority decision defeat — “Wonderboy” returned to the win column with a three-round verdict over Jorge Masvidal at UFC 217 in November. Thompson is 9-2-1 during a promotional tenure that includes wins over Rory MacDonald, Johny Hendricks, Jake Ellenberger and Robert Whittaker.
