Derek Brunson has withdrawn from a middleweight bout against Antonio Carlos Jr. at UFC 227 due to an eye injury.

Combate.com was first to report the news. The promotion has not made an announcement regarding the injury, but according to ESPN, the plan is to rebook the bout at a later date.

UFC 227 takes place at Staples Center in Los Angeles on Aug. 4 and is headlined by a bantamweight title rematch between T.J. Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt.

Brunson had a two-fight winning streak snapped in his most recent outing, when he suffered a first-round knockout lost to Ronaldo Souza at UFC on Fox 27 on Jan. 27. Carlos Jr. has won his last five, including a first-round submission of Tim Boetsch at UFC on Fox 29.
