Derrick Lewis has been targeted as the replacement opponent for Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC Fight Night in Zagreb on April 10.
Multiple outlets have confirmed the heavyweight pairing following an initial report from MMAJunkie.com. The UFC has yet to officially confirm the matchup. Gonzaga was initially scheduled to face Ruslan Magomedov, but the Dagestani fighter announced his withdrawal due to a knee injury earlier this week.
Lewis has won three of his last four Octagon appearances, including a first-round technical knockout of Damian Grabowski in his most recent outing at UFC Fight Night “Hendricks vs. Thompson” on Feb. 6. All 14 of Lewis’ career triumphs have come inside the distance.
Gonzaga halted a three-fight skid with a unanimous decision victory over Konstantin Erokhin at “The Ultimate Fighter 22” finale on Dec. 11. The former heavyweight title challenger is 12-9 over the course of his promotional tenure.
UFC Fight Night takes place at Zagreb Arena in Croatia and is headlined by a heavyweight tilt between Ben Rothwell and Junior dos Santos. The main card will air on Fox Sports 1, with early preliminary contests streaming on UFC Fight Pass.
