Derrick Lewis and Ruan Potts will attempt to get back on the winning track when they meet in a heavyweight bout at UFC 184 on Feb. 28.
The pairing was announced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on Tuesday. The pay-per-view event, which takes place at Staples Center in Los Angeles, features two title fights, with Chris Weidman defending his 185-pound crown against Vitor Belfort and Ronda Rousey looking to remain unbeaten against Cat Zingano.
Lewis has only suffered two losses since 2011, both coming in either Bellator MMA or the UFC. “The Black Beast” saw an eight-fight unbeaten halted when he was knocked out by Matt Mitrione at UFC Fight Night “Jacare vs. Mousasi 2.” The 29-year-old finishes fights, with all 11 of his wins coming before reaching the judges’ scorecards.
Potts has yet to taste success under the UFC banner, losing his first two outings via stoppage against Soa Palelei and Anthony Hamilton. The former Extreme Fighting Championship Africa champion hadn’t been finished in his career prior to joining the UFC, losing only once via decision in his second of three fights against Andrew van Zyl.
