Lightweight veterans Diego Sanchez and Jim Miller will meet in the “featured spotlight fight” of the UFC 197 undercard, Ultimate Fighting Championship officials announced on Wednesday.
The 155-pound matchup is set to headline the preliminary stream on UFC Fight Pass, which precedes the televised undercard and pay-per-view main card of the March 5 event.
Headlining the show at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas will be a lightweight title tilt between champion Rafael dos Anjos and featherweight ace Conor McGregor.
Sanchez, 34, previously announced that he would return to lightweight after a one-fight stint at 145 pounds saw him defeated by Ricardo Lamas. The Jackson-Wink MMA product has won just one of his last four outings, a controversial split decision over Ross Pearson in June 2014.
Miller, 32, finds himself in a similar predicament, with three defeats in his last four appearances. In his most recent outing, the New Jerseyan was submitted by Michael Chiesa on Dec. 10, marking only the second tap-out loss in Miller’s 33-fight career.
