An injured ankle has forced middleweight David Terrell (Pictures) off Nov. 17's UFC 78 card in Newark, New Jersey, the UFC announced Saturday.

An MRI found an injury in training yielded torn ligaments in one of Terrell's ankles, said his manager Cesar Gracie (Pictures). Terrell suffered the injury while grappling with welterweight Jake Shields (Pictures), who fights Nov. 10 on Showtime. Replacing Terrell is veteran Canadian Joe Doerksen (Pictures), who last fought versus Paulo Filho (Pictures) in the WEC.
