The Ultimate Fighting Championship announced a potential barnburner Friday morning.

Rafael dos Anjos will return from a foot injury that prevented him from facing Conor McGregor at UFC 196 to take on challenger Eddie Alvarez on July 7. The event will go down at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and will air exclusively on UFC Fight Pass.

The UFC revealed the news on its official Twitter feed.

Alvarez, 27-4, a former Bellator MMA 155-pound champion, is 2-1 with the UFC with hard-fought wins against Gilbert Melendez and Anthony Pettis. His lone loss came against Donald Cerrone. The 32-year-old Philadelphian has went the distance in all three bouts.

Dos Anjos, 25-7, has won five straight and 9 of 10 in the UFC, with his lone loss coming against undefeated prospect Khabib Nurmagomedov. The 31-year-old Kings MMA representative is ranked amongst the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world.
