Featherweight veteran Eddie Yagin has been hospitalized and will not fight Dennis Siver as expected at UFC on Fox 5.
House says that Yagin felt ill upon returning home from a routine practice this weekend, though the former Tachi Palace Fights champion did not sustain a knockout during his session. When his condition did not improve, Yagin decided to go to the emergency room.
UFC on Fox 5 takes place Dec. 8 at KeyArena in Seattle. The evening’s main card airs live on Fox’s flagship network and is topped by an anticipated lightweight title match pitting reigning champion Benson Henderson against No. 1 contender Nate Diaz.
Yagin, 33, has won three of his last four fights. “The Filipino Phenom” joined the UFC on the heels of his title-winning performance over onetime Bellator champ Joe Soto at TPF 10 last year. The native Hawaiian made his Octagon debut in September 2011, dropping a unanimous decision to Junior Assuncao. However, Yagin rebounded from that setback this past April, when he snatched a split verdict from former featherweight title challenger Mark Hominick at UFC 145.
