Dantas and Caldwell were initially scheduled to meet at Bellator 177 but Caldwell was forced to withdraw from the contest due to injury. Instead, Dantas captured a split decision over Leandro Higo for his fourth consecutive victory.
Caldwell, meanwhile, has lost just once — an upset submission defeat against Joe Taimanglo — in eight Bellator MMA appearances. He avenged that setback at Bellator 167, when he captured a unanimous decision victory over Taimanglo this past December.
Straus returned to action after more than a year absence at Bellator 178, where he lost the featherweight title to Patricio Freire via second-round submission on April 21. Sanchez, meanwhile, has won five of his last six promotional appearances, including a three-round verdict over Marcos Galvao at Bellator 175 on March 31.
