Eduardo Henrique Dominates Cody Davis, Nets Flyweight Championship at LFA 172

Eduardo Henrique secured the Legacy Fighting Alliance flyweight championship in the fourth round of his LFA 172 main event against Cody Davis on Friday at the Arizona Financia Theatre in Phoenix.

Considering his striking background, Henrique (12-2) looked to keep the fight on the feet and succeeded in doing so. The Brazilian even managed to drop Davis (8-2) with a sharp check hook in Round 1, all while stuffing multiple takedown attempts. Henrique continued to tag Davis on the feet while fending off all takedown attempts until the third round. Despite being taken down, “Chapolin” kept his composure and got back to his feet, eventually hurting Davis with a knee on the break. Round 3 ended with a hurt Davis shooting in for a takedown, only to be mounted and pounded for the remainder of the period.

The fourth frame saw a determined Henrique pressure a visibly exhausted Davis with his leg kicks and forward movement, eventually securing a technical knockout via punches at the 2:36 mark.

In the co-headliner, featherweight Lerryan Douglas (9-5) recorded a thunderous left hook knockout of Arizona native Ivan Tena (6-2) at 1:38 of Round 1. The win was the Brazilian’s first under the LFA banner, as it followed a TKO loss in his promotional debut.

Meanwhile, Russia’s Nikita Kulshin (5-0) remained undefeated against Juliano Prescendo (9-3), as he took a unanimous decision in their lightweight showcase. The Russian outclassed his opponent throughout the match, securing scorecards that read 30-27, 30-27 and 30-26 in his favor.

In the only welterweight affair on the card, Mirafzal Axtamov (7-0) knocked out Keyth Dawson (4-5) at the 1:12 mark of the first frame. The win made for a successful promotional debut for the Uzbekistan national, who has finished three of his last four fights.

In another lightweight matchup, Cedric Katambwa (4-0) notched a technical knockout via elbows 1:47 into the second round against Bret Cooper (2-2).

In preliminary action, Arizona native Leslie Hernandez (2-1) fought her way to a split decision against Cristina Brador (1-1) at 115 pounds, and strawweight newcomer Grace DiFrancesco (1-0) shined in her pro debut by punching out Jasmine Pouncy (1-4) at the 2:54 of the second round.
