EliteXC Vet Bradley Arrested
Former collegiate wrestling and boxing standout turned MMA prospect
Eric Bradley (Pictures) may now be facing a different
kind of time in the cage.
According to a police report filed with the Centre County Sheriff's office in Pennsylvania, Bradley, 26, along with fellow former Penn State student Patrick Cummins, 27, was arrested on Friday by the State College Police Department on charges of criminal conspiracy to commit burglary, burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, loitering and prowling.
Bradley, a former two-time All-American wrestler at Penn State, was also a national collegiate boxing champion in 2003. Bradley has posted a 2-1 mark in his young MMA career, and is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Mikey Gomez (Pictures) on the undercard of EliteXC's February offering in Miami.
Bradley began his career alongside fellow standout collegiate wrestlers Jake Rosholt, Johny Hendricks and Shane Roller as part of the innovative management group Team Takedown, which seeks to turn former collegiate wrestling stars into top MMA prospects. However, Team Takedown managing partner Ted Ehrhardt revealed to FiveOuncesOfPain.com earlier this week that Bradley had been released from his Team Takedown contract approximately a month ago, citing personal issues impacting Bradley as the cause of the dissolution.
According to local Pennsylvanian newspaper The Progress, the State College Police Department responded to a report of a burglary in progress at approximately 1:58 a.m. Friday at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity in State College. A resident at that location provided descriptions of Bradley and Cummins as well as the vehicle they exited the scene in. The two were then apprehended and taken into custody in the nearby Ferguson Township.
Bradley and Cummins were arraigned before Magisterial District judge Carmine Prestia, who set bail for both at $50,000. Both are currently incarcerated at the Centre County Correctional Facility pending their preliminary hearing, scheduled for Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. at the Centre County Courthouse in Bellefonte.
