Former top-10 featherweight Erik Koch will return to 155 pounds for a meeting with Rafaello Oliveira at UFC 170.
UFC officials Saturday announced the booking, which takes place Feb. 22 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The UFC 170 main card airs live on pay-per-view and is topped by a women’s bantamweight title tilt pitting unbeaten champion Ronda Rousey against Olympic wrestling silver medalist Sara McMann.
Koch has competed at featherweight for the entirety of his Zuffa run, posting a 3-1 record under the World Extreme Cagefighting banner before kicking off his UFC career with back-to-back wins over Raphael Assuncao and Jonathan Brookins. Last year, however, “New Breed” sustained consecutive defeats, suffering a technical knockout at the hands of Ricardo Lamas before dropping a unanimous decision to Dustin Poirier in August.
Oliveira has stumbled in three of his last four fights, falling to Edson Barboza in his only Octagon appearance of 2013. “Tractor” is a veteran of 24 career outings and owns nine of his 17 pro victories by either knockout or submission.
