Absolute Championship Akhmat returned Monday with a brand-new event on Russian soil for the first time since the COVID-19 outbreak.

The main event of ACA 106 featured a clash between former M-1 Global middleweight champion Artem Frolov (14-2) and up-and-comer Ibragim Magomedov (5-1). Frolov lost his title to Bruno Silva at M-1 Challenge 98 in November 2018. After that, he scored a couple of KO victories over Jonas Billstein and Bruno Santos, but he also dropped a decision to Magomed Ismailov.

The experience was a huge factor in the bout, as Frolov controlled the pace of the fight for most of the time, while Magomedov circled the cage to avoid Frolov's notorious power punches. Eventually, the judges rewarded Frolov with a unanimous decision victory. In the post-fight interview, Frolov said that he is targeting the ACA 185-pound belt.

In the co-feature, Andrei Koshkin (19-6) locked horns with Magomedsaygid Alibekov (12-2) in a lightweight affair. Showcasing an aggressive fighting style, Koshkin took the center of the cage from the opening exchange and kept it until the end of the bout. The 29-year old Russian fighter teased his opponent with several 1-2 combinations, mixing it up with many low and front kicks. Even though he didn't seem to inflict too much damage on Alibekov, Koshkin's gameplan paid off, as he won the contest via unanimous decision.

Elsewhere, Arbi Agujev (26-9-2NC) bounced back from a two-bout skid by edging Evgeny Belyaev (7-6) via decision in a middleweight clash, and Alexey Efremov (20-11-1) took home a victory after his opponent, Vyacheslav Babkin (9-5), injured himself in the second round of their 185-pound encounter.

In the opening fight on the main card, Bibert Tumenov (9-1) showcased all his striking ability against Alexander Matmuratov (9-5). After three rounds of back-and-forth action, "Headhunter" overcame Matmuratov, earning a unanimous decision victory.
