A featherweight showdown between Andre Fili and Max Holloway has been added to UFC 172, Ultimate Fighting Championship officials announced Wednesday.
UFC 172 takes place April 26 at Baltimore Arena and marks the Las Vegas-based promotion’s first trip to Maryland’s largest city. The pay-per-view event is headlined by a light heavyweight title tilt between Jon Jones and Glover Teixeira and will also see Jake Ellenberger take on Tarec Saffiedine at 170 pounds.
Beaten just once in 14 pro outings, Fili made his Octagon debut this past October on just two weeks’ notice. Though “Touchy” missed weight for his UFC 166 bout with Jeremy Larsen, the 23-year-old nevertheless ended their contest in the second round to pick up the seventh knockout win of his career.
Holloway, 22, recently snapped a two-fight skid with a second-round knockout of Will Chope at UFC Fight Night 34. Prior to that triumph, “Blessed” was outpointed by Dennis Bermudez and Conor McGregor to halt a three-fight winning streak for the Hawaiian.
