Featherweights Siver, Nunes Targeted for UFC on Fuel TV 2 in Sweden
Former lightweight contender Dennis Siver
will likely make his featherweight debut against Diego Nunes
at UFC on
Fuel TV 2.
A source close to the bout confirmed Wednesday to Sherdog.com that at least one of the participants has already signed his contract to compete at the April 14 event, which will emanate from the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm. Swedish outlet MMANytt.se first reported the bout on Tuesday.
Initially, Siver (Pictured) had been rumored to rematch British standout Ross Pearson at the event, but reports validating that potential pairing proved inaccurate.
One of Germany’s most famous MMA exports, 33-year-old Siver had a four-fight winning streak snapped by Donald Cerrone at UFC 137 in October. Known for his unorthodox standup style, the stocky striker is a 13-time UFC veteran who has compiled a record of 8-5 inside the Octagon.
Nunes has earned four wins in his last five outings, notching a pair of victories to close out his World Extreme Cagefighting career before outpointing former WEC champion Mike Thomas Brown in his UFC debut nearly 13 months ago. Though “The Gun” stumbled in his next outing against Kenny Florian, he rebounded in his most recent bout, earning a unanimous nod over onetime title challenger Manny Gamburyan on Dec. 30 at UFC 141.
