Yair Rodriguez, winner of “The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America” Season 1, will face New Zealand’s Daniel Hooker at UFC 192 on Oct. 3.
Promotion officials recently announced the featherweight tilt. UFC 192 takes place at the Toyota Center in Houston and is headlined by a light heavyweight championship clash pitting Daniel Cormier against Alexander Gustafsson. The event airs on pay-per-view.
After outpointing Leonardo Morales to capture the “TUF: Latin America 1” crown at UFC 180, Rodriguez looked impressive in earning a split-decision triumph over Charles Rosa at UFC 188 on June 13, a bout that won “Fight of the Night” honors. The Mexican featherweight is 5-1 as a professional overall.
Hooker, meanwhile, improved to 2-1 in the Octagon with a head kick knockout of Japanese veteran Hatsu Hioki at UFC Fight Night “Miocic vs. Hunt” on May 10. “The Hangman” debuted in the Las Vegas-based promotion in 2014 with a first-round stoppage of Ian Entwistle before dropping a three-round verdict against Maximo Blanco in his sophomore outing.
