Fighter Suspended 21 Months for Two Failed Drug Tests
Jason Winther has joined Adam
Smith as the second mixed martial artist to test positive for
anabolic agents and drugs of abuse in California.
The positive test results stem from a fight Winter (1-2) lost Nov. 3 in Placerville, Calif. Initially, he was found to have a combination of methadone and morphine in his system, prompting the California State Athletic Commission to suspend him through July 30, 2008 and fine him $1,500.
On Monday, the CSAC increased Winther's suspension term to 21 months and upped his fine to a total of $4,000 when it announced he also tested positive for stanozolol and trenbolone metabolites.
