Fighters Make Weight for UFC 75
LONDON, Sept. 7 -- Larger than life, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson gave
his customary howl as he made his way to the scale Friday at the O2
Arena before revealing some wild orange underwear.
Taking the microphone to accuse the noisy London crowd of jealousy over his colorful attire, Jackson looked every bit the confident champion ahead of his first UFC light heavyweight title defense Saturday, which airs on tape-delayed in the States at 9 p.m. ET/PT via SpikeTV.
Also in London, of course, is Jackson's opponent, PRIDE champion Dan Henderson (Pictures), who appeared to have added some lean muscle to his middleweight frame, leading both fighters to weigh in at a solid 204 pounds.
Not appearing to be physically overshadowed by "Rampage," the PRIDE champion looked confident and relaxed, as he and the UFC titleholder faced off for the cameras.
Sporting a bizarre sunhat, Cheick Kongo (Pictures) looked very serious in the run up to his fight with Croatian wrecking-ball, Mirko ‘Cro Cop' Filipovic -- the highly touted striker who was sensationally derailed in his last British outing by a perfect high kick from Gabriel Gonzaga (Pictures). Filiopvic did not appear to be suffering from any kind of nerves, mirroring the Frenchman's aggressive pose and staring furiously back at him.
Stealing the show was Michael Bisping (Pictures), who received a raucous reception from the hundreds in attendance, proving that his immense popularity stretches far beyond his hardcore North of England fan-base. The confident Brit had a few words for his opponent, Matt Hamill, smiling with some cheerful menace ahead of their grudge match -- seen by many as the mouth-watering final chapter of "The Ultimate Fighter" 3.
