Fighters Make Weight for WEC

By Mike Sloan Mar 25, 2008
LAS VEGAS, March 25 -- World Extreme Cagefighting held the weigh-ins today for its 10-fight card on Wednesday, which is headlined by WEC light heavyweight champion Doug Marshall (Pictures)'s title defense against the popular Brian Stann (Pictures).

Both combatants easily made weight, as they tipped the scale at 204 pounds. Marshall and Stann expressed a strong desire to go toe-to-toe if needed, and the two rising stars on the North American mixed martial arts scene promised an electrifying battle.

The original main event, a rematch between Chael Sonnen (Pictures) and Paulo Filho (Pictures) for the WEC middleweight title, was scrapped recently due to Filho admitting himself into a rehab center. Bryan Baker (Pictures), Filho's replacement, weighed in at 204 pounds -- two pounds lighter than Sonnen. The fight card will be held inside The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. Versus will air the event live at 9 p.m. EST.
