Veteran lightweight Spencer Fisher will likely face “Ultimate Fighter” Season 9 winner Ross Pearson at UFC 127, going down Feb. 27 at the Acer Arena in Sydney.

The event is expected to feature several intriguing matchups in multiple weight classes, including a welterweight tilt between Jon Fitch and B.J. Penn and a middleweight scrap pitting Michael Bisping against Jorge Rivera. Aussie George Sotiropoulos is also rumored to make an appearance and will likely face powerful German striker Dennis Siver. News of the Fisher-Pearson matchup was first reported by MMAjunkie.com on Wednesday afternoon. None of the matchups have been officially announced by the UFC.

Fisher is a 14-time UFC veteran who made his promotional debut at UFC Fight Night 2 in 2005, defeating heavy-handed Brazilian Thiago Alves by triangle choke. The former Miletich fighter made the cut to lightweight at UFC 58 to take on Sam Stout, and it produced likely the most memorable fight of his career. Though Fisher dropped a split decision to Stout that night, he would take his revenge a year later at Fight Night 10, earning a unanimous decision and evening the score. Fisher's last trip inside the Octagon netted him another unanimous nod, as the 34-year-old turned back Brit Kurt Warburton at UFC 120 in London.

A member of Team Rough House, Pearson is coming off a submission loss to Cole Miller at Fight Night 22 in September. Prior to that bout, the Brit had won four straight, including a victory over Andre Winner in the “TUF 9” finale last year. The 26-year-old is a black belt in tae kwon do and holds seven of his 11 career victories by either knockout or submission.
