American Kickboxing Academy welterweight
Jon Fitch (Pictures) and Team Quest's
Chris Wilson have agreed to fight at UFC 82 in Columbus, Ohio, according to sources close to both fighters.
Although the bout, slated for March 1, has not been officially signed, both camps expect to complete the paperwork in short order.
Wilson's coach,
Matt Lindland (Pictures), informed Sherdog.com that the fight is close to being official. A representative from Fitch's camp declined to comment on the record but indicated that it was their belief that the fight would indeed be signed.
Fitch (15-2-0) is riding a 14-fight win streak, including seven straight UFC contests. The 29-year-old former college wrestler was originally scheduled to face
Akihiro Gono (Pictures), who was forced to withdraw with a hand injury.
Wilson (13-3-0), who will be making his UFC debut, has key wins over
Rory Markham (Pictures) and current International Fight League welterweight champion
Jay Hieron (Pictures).
The Portland native is on a four-fight winning streak, having defeated UFC veteran Derek Noble in his last fight this past October.
