A flyweight confrontation between Scott Jorgensen and Danny Martinez is slated to go down during the UFC’s debut in Albuquerque, N.M.
UFC Fight Night "Henderson vs. Khabilov takes place June 7 at Tingley Coliseum and airs live on Fox Sports 1, highlighted by a titular lightweight showdown between Benson Henderson and Rustam Khabilov.
Jorgensen, 31, has lost five of his last six bouts, with his lone victory in that span coming over John Albert in December 2012. However, the 31-year-old’s defeats have come against excellent competition, as Jorgensen was bested by Renan Barao, Eddie Wineland, Urijah Faber and Zach Makovsky before tapping out to a Jussier da Silva rear-naked choke last month at UFC Fight Night “Shogun vs. Henderson 2.”
Martinez, 28, also steps back into the Octagon coming off a loss, as “The Gremlin” was outpointed by Chris Cariaso this past February to snap a four-fight winning streak. A 21-fight pro, Martinez has previously faced the likes of da Silva, Mark Hominick and Joseph Benavidez, and he has never been finished in nearly eight years of competition.
