Football Team Owner Tackles Fights

Arena Football League team owner Brady Nelson will be the latest to try his hand at promoting MMA, when he launches Arena Rumble this Saturday at the 12,000-seat Spokane Arena in Spokane, Wash.

Nelson, whose Spokane Shock team won their second ArenaCup on Aug. 23, said he saw a strong correlation between the two sports, which encouraged him to bring the combat sport to his homebase market.

“We have asked our fans what they like most about arena football. They always tell us the fast-paced, high-energy, adrenaline-inducing game play that you never know who will win until the buzzer sounds,” said Nelson in a news release. “Those are all elements of why fans like MMA and the reason I fell in love with this sport.”

Wisely, Nelson won’t go at it alone. Promoting veterans Monte Cox and T. Jay Thompson have crafted the inaugural card, which includes a few familiar names.
